Pets

For the last 9 years our poor deprived children have been petless.  To give Mommy and Daddy some credit, we have had 2 African Dwarf Frogs that lived a month, 2 different ant farms, and caterpillars that hatched into butterflies.  I mean, that's gotta count for something!  But it seems we have now hit a world record in our house of 3 pets!!!  First things first, we have our hermit crabs, Shellie and Captain Hook!(We first had a crab named Sammy, but alas he only lived 3 weeks)  These are my kind of pets...low maintenance, fun to watch, and cheap to replace when they die:).

Our newest addition is...a turtle!  We were helping some friends move and the kids were playing in the new backyard and found this turtle!  Nobody wanted it and we begged Daddy to keep it:).  He agreed, but only if we gave the turtle a name in espanol.  So, meet Lechuga(aka lettuce)!
Again, fun and low maintenance!  The kids are having a blast with him while he explores all over our backyard and burrows down in our plants during the heat of the day.  It's the latest game at our house- "Who can find Lechuga??" (or "Chuga" for short)
The turtle with his name sake:)

He really is a cute little guy(or girl???) and we are feeling like very COOL parents for letting our kids have not 1, not 2, but 3 pets!!!
