Heard Around the House...

Sophy:  "Where, where, where is my papa chicken ballet???" (later discovered to mean her Berenstein Bear book from Chic-fil-a)

Myles:  He just learned how to whistle and is very proud of that fact since his mother has been trying to learn to whistle for 30 years and still can't do it!  He says, "Don't worry Mommy!  I'm sure you'll be able to whistle in heaven!"  Thanks buddy:)

Kyra:  "Mommy, when I get married someday, what I really want you to give me for a present is your recipe for cranberry apple crisp!"

Sophy:  "When I grow up can I play soccer with a uniform too?"

Hayley:  "I lost my first tooth just in time for Halloween!  Now I look like a jack-o-lantern!"

Sophy:  comes in crying, "Myles said I'm mean!!!"
            Mommy:  "Are you being mean?"
Sophy:  "YES!"

Kyra:  "Is it going to be cold today??  Because if it's going to be, like 80, then I'm wearing jeans!"

Myles: (after listening to Daddy complain about his torn hamstring, dislocated pinky finger, planter facsitis in his foot, and kink in his back...) "Daddy, maybe we should just get you a wheelchair!?"

Sophy: (Daddy calls for her across the field at the park)  "No Daddy, I not come over there!!  There's tons of bad guys!!!" (bad guys=high school football players)

Dear neighbors,

Dear neighbors,
I want to apologize for the screaming that flows from our house every morning and evening like clockwork.  It is the 2 year old and 4 year old girls...no, there are no injuries...no, their brother is not whacking them with swords(although that happens too!)...we have no dangerous animals...there is no blood.  I'm just brushing their teeth and/ or hair.  Please ignore the noise and continue on with your day.
Sincerely,
The Floyd Family

When I am weak, then I am strong!

Once again we are back in school, starting our 4th week. This year with a 3rd grader, a 1st grader, a pre-schooler, and a 2 yr. old!  We've had a great start, learning about history Rome to present, swimming creatures, singing verses and geography, reading good books, writing stories, practicing letters, and sometimes enjoying math:).  Although the kids learn lots, I often feel like I am learning more.  More about sin, more about grace, more about my dependence on Jesus, more about my children, more about prayer, more about patience.  When people discover that we homeschool, they either react with "excitement", "You must be crazy!", or "You must be super mom!"  But with each year I realize more and more that it's not about me, perfect schooling, or perfect children.  It's about drawing close to the Savior, depending on God's strength, loving what God loves, and walking through life together.

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

So, obviously not much blogging going on here lately!  Our computer died a hard death this summer(along with the tv, toaster, ice maker, car alternator, and front door...but who's counting:)) making it difficult, no make that impossible, to blog!  However we had a wonderful summer full of swimming, gymnastics camp, trip to Flagstaff to meet our new cousin, parks & rec track meets, and camping in Lake Tahoe.  Pictures coming soon...
