Everything ...sito

Most of you know that Scott only speaks Spanish to the kids. It is amazing that they understand everything he says and respond correctly. Hayley has been speaking her own version of spanglish lately...
skittles are "skittlesitos"
markers are "markersitos"
her tennis shoes which she calls cougars(Scott's cross country team is the cougars) are "cougarsitos"
She also uses a spanish filler word "pero" which means but. All day long she says stuff like:
"I need to go potty, pero I can't get my pants off."
"I want to play, pero Myles is being mean."
"Sophy wants a popsicle, pero she's just a baby."
It is hilarious to listen to!

The Wonderings of Myles...

"Mommy, I thought Jesus was a person, but everyone at church says he's a rock."
"Do you think we can get to heaven in our car?"
"Mommy, do you want to know something really, really scary? Sometimes Daddy drives with only 2 fingers!"
"Yeah, speaking about butterflies, I think I saw a fly in our kitchen."
(Overheard from Kyra and Myles playing)
Myles: You have to answer a riddle before you can come in my room.
Kyra: OK
Myles: What kind of coffee is bad and what kind of coffee is good?
Kyra: Well, coffee without creamer is bad, and coffee with creamer is good.
(I totally agree, but where do they get this stuff??)

Tomorrow...

Tomorrow is our first day of school. Starting school, in my opinion, is like having a baby. You're never totally ready, you're never as caught up on stuff as you'd like to be, and you're never 100% organized. Yet, the time comes and it works out, it's fun, we all learn, and at times it's a little chaotic:). I'm excited for this year with my kiddos and have been thinking a lot about this quote lately...

I seldom feel like much of an adventurer-standing in this kitchen, pouring cereal into bowls, refilling them, handing out paper towels when the inevitable cry comes: "Uh oh, I spilled." But sometimes at night the thought will strike me: There are three(in my case 4) small people here, breathing sweetly in their beds, whose lives are for the moment in our hands. I might as well be at the controls of a moon shot, the mission is so grave and vast.(Femine Appeal)

I am glad that their little lives are not completely in our hands...God is so much bigger and better. But I do want to use this time I have with them wisely!

Ready, Aim, Fire

In this 100 degree weather, most outdoor activities involve water. One of our favorites is water balloon fights!

The "this is serious business" face.

Big Girl!

Something happened when Sophy turned 5 months old...she's doing so many new things at once that "she's like a real human!"
Sophy still loves her pacifier and her thumb, but when those aren't close enough the big toe works great:).
Sophy started solids, but she doesn't think she's been missing much!
"What is this thing you are putting in my mouth??"
The kids love to feed her, which pretty much makes our kitchen covered in orange slime.

Eventually she did warm up to baby food and has tried most of the vegetables.
"Not so bad after all!"
She likes her Bumbo and bouncy seat still, but has decided she MUST not be left in a room by herself and if Mommy is in the room she MUST be held. Occasionally I have to do things like go to the bathroom, and let's just say that there's nothing wrong with the girl's lungs!

"See my tooth!?"
She's also been working on some teeth and now has 2 little bottom ones working their way up more everyday.
Soph is very generous with her smiles, which we love.

Happy or "Get me out of this pot!" :)

Sophy is rolling everywhere and only likes to sleep on her tummy now!
What a change 5 months brings to our sweet baby girl!
