Floyd Family Olympics

This week is spring break and we've been doing fun stuff with Daddy. Yesterday we held the first official Floyd Olympics. Here are the official events...sponsered by Powerade of course. We announced each athlete and their home country:) on the megaphone before the first event. Everyone(except Sophy) completed the whole olympics!
The athletes enjoying their Powerade break!
The Powerade thief!
Kyra at the long jump...look at that air:)
Myles as a long jump natural:)
Hayley won long jump in the 3 year old division:)
Baby throwing was not an official event, but I think Daddy and Sophy won!!

To finish up, we did a victory lap around the field with our American flags and every athlete received a medal! We all had lots of fun and it was great to be outside on such a beautiful day!

Kyra the Bookworm!

I haven't posted just about Kyra in a while...it is so fun to have her home and see her learning and soaking up everything like a sponge. She amazes me with what she remembers and knows. This year she has turned into a bookworm and reads everything in sight. This week alone, she has already read 3 chapter books and it's only Thursday morning! These are some of the books she's gone through in the last couple months.
She reads in my closet...
at the table to Myles(he especially loves to hear the Magic Tree House stories about Jack and Annie)...
standing up at the kitchen counter...
and hanging half way off the couch.
She's only a first grader, but she's been dying to learn a little cursive. Here she is working on her name and her A's:).
Since we are going through books at a fast rate, if anyone has good book recomendations, they would be much appreciated:)!

Desert Museum

We had a fun field trip to the Desert Museum last week with Papa Bob and Auntie Robin. We went through the bat caves, saw two mountain lions up and about and sharpening their claws, lots of snakes and lizards, sleeping beavers, mountain goats and more. And after that we had HUGE ice cream cones! A very fun day:)

How to get your 3 year old to eat more carrots...

These carrots keep magically disappearing...

A Chilly Morning:)

Big sisters are the best!

Funny things heard around our house...

Myles: "Mommy, will you and Daddy be dead when I get my driver's license?" (Iknow we're old, but really!?)

Hayley: "I got my green eyes from Daddy, Jack and Mrs. Lambros." (interesting, considering only 1 of those people is related to her:))

Eating dinner outside: Myles-"Sophy is like the Grinch! She just stole some of my chicken. Except she doesn't have spiders in her soul!"

Bedtime(so I don't forget...)

Bedtimes around our house come at 7:00, 7:30, and 8:00 and each little Floyd has their own routine. It's actually kinda funny when I stop and think about it:).

7:00pm Sophy: Bath and jammies, likes her cup of warm milk and guzzles the entire thing in under a minute(Mommy singing to her while she guzzles), then wants "num-num"(aka pacifier) and her soft purple blankie. She manages to sleep with the blankie completely wrapped around her head and her little bum up in the air.

7:30pm Hayley: After bath, jammies, and lots of Spanish stories with Daddy, we tiptoe back to the girls room as quietly as possible so we don't wake up Soph. Hayley then gets up in her bed and pulls her jammies up to her armpits. She asks me to put the "sparkly" side(aka the satin shiny side) of her blanket on her belly and her other blanket over her legs and feet. Every night she says "Mommy, I want the "parkly" side on my belly, not the soft side, the "parkly" side." Then we pray and she asks me to sing her "Good night my angel."

7:30-8:00pm Myles: (same bath, jammies, teeth, stories with Daddy) Daddy usually puts Myles to bed, but then he always wants me to come in too, so it really doesn't save me any time:). After I kiss him he says, "Can you just lay down with me a couple seconds??" And I can't resist that cute boy, so I do:). He then proceeds to ask me a million random questions like "What would happen if our house didn't have a roof and it started raining right now?" and "What if Sophy talks Chinese when she starts talking, instead of English?" and "How many dark naps til we see Wyatt again?" and "Can we go to Starbucks to get chocolate milk tomorrow?"... Then last he asks again, "I can still live with you when I get married right?" Then he wants me to put a pillow in the door so his door won't accidently close during the night.

8:00ish Kyra: Kyra and I snuggle on the couch and read a chapter of our current book, right now it's the Wizard of Oz. When she climbs up in the top bunk, she tucks in Lanie(her american girl doll) with her own blanket and pillow at the foot of the bed. Then she spreads out her blanket, soft side up perfectly over her pillow. She lays down on the silky pillow and pulls her other sheets and blanket up. Then we pray and I lightly scratch her back and kiss her good night. At the door of her room I always blow her a kiss and she catches it and blows one back.

And they're snug as 4 bugs in a rug:)

The Prayers of a 5 year old

posting this so I don't forget...
(Myles) Dear Jesus,
Thank you for giving us food and giving us a house and help us not to worship idols like the Israelites and help us to make you our treasure and help us to obey Mommy and do good school work and help baby Sophy and baby Quincy and baby Kenton to grow strong and love you. And thank you for Daddy and help him have a good day at work and help us to honor you too Jesus. We love you Jesus. Amen
